HST’s…

hello possums…

HST… I’ve never had a go at half square triangles before so thought it was time to get cracking on them…

Decided I’d go BIG…

binding time

so I took my favourite fabrics… Kaffe Fassett… and cut 10″ squares

placed right sides together with a plain fabric, marked a long on the diagonal

sewing a 1/4″ seam either side on the line….

then cut in half on the line, then pressed…

popped them on the design wall

finding an arrangement I was happy with….

but then the centres seemed to blank, like they needed something….

so I took 5″ squares and repeated the process but this time two lines of diagonals

then cut with a rotatory cutter down the middles both ways….

sew then 2 triangles together to create another square…

I then ironed on a fusible webbing… onto the back then onto my centres…

much better.. to make sure they stay I raw edged in straight stitch…

sew all your blocks together…

now I just stippled the centres.. added a stripe binding…

and now I can snuggle under my lap quilt…
